The Recovery Period After Impacted Canine Surgery
After surgery, it is important that you keep the area clean and free of any and all debris that might come into contact with the area. This is because you want to reduce the chances of infection or irritation.
You want to limit the number of things you do and take it easy for a short period of time after having the surgery. Do not mess around with the wound area or put anything in that area. You should use ice to reduce the swelling in the area and stay away from any straws.
Additionally, you want to avoid chewing anything or eating anything hard until the mouth has healed a bit more. Liquids that are room temperature or even a little warmer are ideal, but nothing too hot should be consumed.
Take the pain medications as prescribed by our office, as well as any other medications that you may have been prescribed.
